-
Media credibility is enhanced when information
is distributed quickly. The more current the information is, the
higher its credibility. Again, the "Eyewitness News" principle
applies.
-
Newscasters want their audiences to recognize
that they are showing them events as they happen. Some programs even
use slogans like "Live at Five" to underscore how current their
reports are.
Example: If you found a three
month old newspaper reporting about a particular event in Miami Beach,
you would probably question whether the information was still credible
because so much time had passed since the story was first printed.
Example: If you find a Web site
that states that it was last updated in March 1995, you will probably recognize
that the information found there may not be credible because it is so out
of date. |
