Determine whether the information is fact, opinion, or propaganda. Factual statements should be well documented and/or footnoted so they can be verified for accuracy. Check for bias by looking at the author or publishing source. Some authors and publishers attempt to influence public opinion by advocating or presenting a specific point of view. Look at the language of the source to see if it is objective and impartial, or emotionally charged. Ask yourself the following: How is the information presented? If the information is presented as fact, is it correct? Is there evidence of bias?
